So Grateful

Thank you principal Secor for your insightful and inspiring words!  I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and feelings from your unique position.  Your post sparks not only my own memories of my first days at South Point, but also reinforces my deep gratitude for being able to serve the South Point community for 17 years.

Unlike many of the families I serve, I did not grow up in Washington, Missouri.  I moved here for my first teaching job.  It didn't take long for me to realize that I would be staying here for awhile.  It was here that I first realized the strong sense of community that comes from living in a smaller town.  I had never experienced that before.  Washington is unique in that it is small, but has everything you need.  Geographically, it is out on its own, but close to a large city.  I love living here.

This sense of community is magnified inside South Point elementary.  I share principal Secor's sentiment of feeling honored to be part of this remarkable team.  To work at South Point elementary means that I get to go to work in a uplifting positive environment where I feel supported and valued.  I have the privilege of being part of a group who's main mission is doing what is best for students.  A group of teachers who go above and beyond in supporting the growth of every student everyday.  A group of teachers who always come together to support each other both professionally and personally.  I can not imagine working with a better group of people and principal Secor is a perfect addition to our South Point community.
